Luke 10:41,42: 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Sometimes we get so involved with serving others that we neglect serving our Lord and Savior. Busily knitting scarves, cooking meals, consoling the grieving, or even just visiting the neighbors. All of these things would be better for having spent time studying the Word and in prayer and communion with our Lord and Savior. Jesus is well known for going into the hills or hiding from His followers just to talk with God and reflect upon His tasks. Let us not neglect our Lord and Creator. After all, He made us in His own image! Lord and Creator, I am in awe of your power to make all things work together. I am in awe of the amazing way I am put together … and that I have eternal forgiveness for my messes! Zoe

Psalm 23 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. A good shepherd knows all about his sheep. He knows that this one may be strong, while another one is weak. He realizes that some are wayward or lonely or in need of special care. Here is the greatness of our own Good Shepherd. Nothing escapes His watching and loving eye. He knows the smallest hurt and deepest pain. He always helps from His holy place as the Good Shepherd of our Souls. One of the strange things about our life in the 20th Century is its deep loneliness. Even in our crowded cities, people are often alone, lost in the noisy confused life of our hard, cold world. But the Christian heart need never feel lonely. Knowing that we are redeemed and live in the shadow of our own Good Shepherd where comfort, blessing and other gifts are readily available. It is never too much or too little, never too early or too late, because He knows His own! "God, I believe you know me and know my name. Help me to rest secure in your forgiving love and follow wherever you lead me." -Zoe |
